BRIEF: Senior Yahoo! executive to visit Israel: Yahoo! looks to Walla! to join its search battle against Google.

Mar 20, 2008 (Globes - McClatchy-Tribune Information Services via COMTEX) — YHOO | news | PowerRating | PR Charts — Sources inform “Globes” that Ettore Leale, general manager for search and marketing in emerging markets at Yahoo Inc. (Nasdaq: YHOO | news | PowerRating | PR Charts ) will arrive in Israel tomorrow for a visit lasting several days. Leale will hold a series of meetings with the management of local search portal Walla Communications (TASE: WALA), with the aim of deepening the existing collaboration between the two companies, and looking at further opportunities for collaboration in the future. Walla signed a long-term strategic agreement on search technology with Yahoo! in January. The two companies seek to provide competition to Google’s dominance of the search market in Israel, and offer an alternative to advertisers who rely on search-based advertising.
