Gaming appears to be the popular venue for fund-raising. There’s no sit-down dinner and speeches, but an evening of activity where everyone wins, especially the charity for which the event was held.
MONEY. Lots of money. Not a pot of gold, but green paper money that whirled and swirled as guests tried to grab as much as they could in 10 seconds in the Mad Grab Money Booth to win dinner gift certificates and raffle tickets. That was just one of the fun games at the Westside Montessori Center Game Show Gala Saturday night.

The wheel of fortune roulette game for raffle tickets, food coupons, and centerpieces were fun, too, as was the Play 21 for raffle tickets.
But the game that drew a crowd of spectators was “Are You Smarter Than a Middle Schooler?” complete with lifeline supporters.
For each of two rounds, three adults were teamed against five students in the categories of math, science, language arts, social studies, and current events/pop culture, and the students prevailed. The prize was the board game “Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader?”
Other prizes were: A Grand Hotel vacation on Mackinac Island won by Sarah Lindberg; a luxury dream escape won by Terri Fisher, and an overnight stay at the Kalahari Waterpark resort with Cedar Point Amusement Park passes won by Paul and Mindy Vesoulis.
Guests were invited to bring a bottle of wine to add to the wine table, then raffle tickets were sold for the whole lot. Jim Rousos went home with more than 40 bottles of wine.
Tanya Pipatjarasgit and her husband, Brian Nupp, were among the guests at the Game Show Gala.
