Weight Loss Motivation

June 30th, 2008 by rhiannsblog3548

A lack of motivation when it comes to losing weight and dieting is the number one reason why the majority of people fail when trying to lose weight or change their lifestyle, if you have motivation and backing then you are able to stick with the diet much more easily and reach your goals.

Planning ahead is the biggest self-motivation technique, having realistic goals and expectations for the amount of weight you wish to achieve over a set period of time can make all the difference to your success. Goals which you should set out at the very beginning of your diet plan include determining the amount of exercise which you plan to do on a daily basis. However it is essential that the goals you set out are achievable, you need to have in mind what the goal will help you to achieve and what it is you have to do in order to be able to reach that goal.

Make a note of all the obstacles that you can think of which might get in your way and stop you from reaching your intending goal, then decide on ways that you can get around anything that could stop you from achieving those goals. You should also set out a goal for when you will review any progress you have achieved, where possible make this the same day and time, also determine how you will treat or reward yourself once you have reached the goals which you set out.

Positive thinking goes a long way to ensuring that you remain motivated at all times, instead of looking at your diet in a negative way such as thinking of all the things that you cannot have, instead turn it to more positive thinking by considering how much fitter and healthier you will be on your new diet and change to your lifestyle.

Other ways you are able to motivate yourself is by making sure that you plan your meals ahead of time, this is essential when going shopping. Always make sure you have in mind what you will be eating for your main meals and try to make this a variation. Going out with a list in hand will make sure that you don’t pick unhealthy foods from the shelf.

Make a list for yourself of all the reasons and benefits that you are dieting, this list should be printed out and stuck around the house where you can clearly see it in those times that motivation is lacking. When on a diet everyone will have bad days and these are the times when you need to bring back your focus and instead of worrying about the bad think if all the good and what you have achieved so far. If you do stray then don’t beat yourself up too much but instead get right back on track.

What is Customer Relationship Management?

June 29th, 2008 by rhiannsblog3548

Customer relationship management, or CRM, refers to reliable systems, processes, and procedures that allow companies to better manage customer relationships. It is a corporate level strategy that focuses on creating and maintaining effective communication with its customers. Ideally, a sound CRM strategy should develop an end-to-end process that encompasses sales, customer service, and marketing.

A successful customer relationship plan can manage all business-related operations and interactions with customers simultaneously. It often includes special software programs, called CRM programs, which aid companies in tracking and organizing their customer base.

Customer relationship management is just that: learning ways to manage the happiness of your customers by giving them what they want, increasing the effectiveness and profitability of your product or service by adapting them to customer preferences, and creating communication channels between sales reps, sales managers, and the customers they serve.

What are some ideas for successfully implementing a customer relationship management strategy?

There are numerous ways to successfully implement an effective CRM program. Here are some ideas that will start you thinking about the ways you can create a richer and more truly customer based culture. You can improve, adapt and reform your customer relationship plan by such methods as:

• Providing product information and support via a hotline or a website. This would allow customers to better use and understand specific products or services, and get any technical answers they need;

• Creating custom applications that offer point-and-click customization, real-time analytics, ease of use, tracking of all contact points between customer and company, and fast online and offline access to data;

• Implementing a mechanism to quickly schedule and manage follow-up sales calls and create clear, well-built information pipelines and channels of communication;

• Creating a simple, easy and intuitive user interface that is friendly to computer experts and neophytes alike. Thus, even those reps who feel uncomfortable using a computer could easily go online and check out statistics and other information;

• Devising a quick system for correcting service problems before they affect other customers, answering customer questions or complaints, and handling any other problems that might arise.

How does customer relationship management actually improve a company’s relationship with its clients?

CRM improves relationships between customers and companies because it allows a company to meet the needs of the customer by keeping track of their interests and improving products and services accordingly.

For example, if a company implements a customer relationship management technology program for a specific product, they can track how much the customer uses the product and how much they repurchase it, allowing the company to grow and adapt the product to the customer’s needs.

Used correctly, a solid CRM program can increase customer loyalty, decrease the customer turnover rate, decrease marketing costs, and increase revenue and profits. Essentially, it greatly improves the way your company and sales reps or other professionals do business with customers.

What technical functions should a customer relationship management program have?

A CRM program should have the ability to interface with users through mobile phones, internet, and other similar communications channels. It should also take into account workflow and have the ability to assign sales requests, sales opportunities, and other such assignments to groups or an individual. More importantly, it should be scalable and easily expandable over a very large or small scale.

This means that as long as the customer relationship management system is properly programmed, everyone from the smallest business to the largest corporation should be able to implement an effective CRM strategy.

Implementing an effective and efficient customer relationship management system is the best way to increase consumer confidence in your product or service and stay in touch with your customers, thereby increasing the effectiveness of your product or service.

Halloween Tricks for Trick or Treaters

June 29th, 2008 by rhiannsblog3548

Want play a trick on those, Trick or Treating rascals that call on your house this Halloween? We have the perfect Trick or Treat, treat - Chocolate covered brussel sprouts!

We all know how much children hate to eat their greens, especially brussel sprouts. So this little treat is sure to trick them. Just imagine their little faces when they bite down on these festive goodies! Ad remember, he who laughs last, laughs longest.

All you will need is a bag of brussel sprouts, some milk chocolate cooking chocolate, some greaseproof paper and some Hundreds and Thousands to decorate (Optional)

First take the brussel sprouts and prepare them as if you were going to cook them by taking off all the outer leaves. Give them a wash and pat them dry. If they are wet the chocolate won’t cover properly.

Now take the chocolate and break up into chunks and put them in a microwavable bowl and microwave for 1 minute. Take out and stir. Return back to the microwave for 30 seconds if needed. Be careful not to microwave too much because it burn the chocolate and spoils it.

If you don’t have a microwave, don’t worry. Break the chocolate up into a heat proof bowl and stand in a saucepan of boiling water on the hob. You need to make sure that the pan doesn’t boil dry, and that no water splashes out of the pan and into your chocolate, else it will spoil. Remember to keep stirring your chocolate.

When the chocolate is melted, add the brussel sprouts and give them a good mix to ensure that all the brussel sprouts are evenly covered and no green leaves are showing.

Then carefully lift each brussel sprout out with a spoon and leave it on a sheet of greaseproof paper. When you have all the chocolate covered brussel sprouts out of the mixture, use a tea spoon to drizzle chocolate over each brussel to ensure coverage and use up the left over melted chocolate.

If you would like to decorate the brussel sprouts sprinkle some Hundreds and Thousands over them whilst the chocolate is still warm. They will stay in place when the chocolate sets.

Place the chocolate treats in the fridge to harden for about 30 minutes. Divide into little goodie bags ready for the Halloween trick or treaters, wont they be surprised? Please do expect to have your garden covered in half bitten chocolate covered brussel sprouts, however, that all adds to the amusement!

What Is Energized Business Growth?

June 29th, 2008 by rhiannsblog3548

As a leader, what would your life look like if your marketing strategy were clear, focused, and exciting?

Despite the amount of industry growth, margin erosion, and talent shortage, the DREAM of doing more of what you love is alive, and it’s doing well. It simply takes time and patience to learn how to get it.

After spending over a year personally interviewing top performing CEOs, I found that leaders running energized growth companies ruthlessly ask three questions throughout the life of their busines:

* What are we PASSIONATE about?
* What can we be EXCELLENT at doing?
* How well does it fuel our ECONOMIC ENGINE-can we be paid well for it?

Jim Collins’ Good to Great is a timeless guidebook that helps us focus on these questions. Peter Drucker inspired Jim. And Napoleon Hill probably inspired Peter with the results of his interviews of over 200 turn-of-the-century tycoons.

Let’s fast forward to today. How often do you HONESTLY answer these questions? And how swiftly do you make needed changes to your company’s growth strategy?

If you answered seldom or never, you’re not alone.

That’s because it’s easy for any entrepreneur to plan for growth. But few plan for energized growth. That is because services professionals and consultants share several common obstacles:

1. Saying yes to too many things. How many times have you been stuck in your office at midnight, working on some volunteer project, and missing another moment to enjoy their children? If this has happened to you, it is possible that obligation, guilt, and should do lists rule your life.

2. Discovering that former best selling products don’t make money like they used to-yet they stay on the product list. Every month becomes a contest to see whether they will be profitable. This often leads to employees not knowing the behaviors and measures that drive profitable business. Therefore, non-selling employees cannot explain how their job ties to the financial success of the company!

3. Not knowing what ideas should be pursued. Every idea seems valid, and you may be equally excited by each one. Should you do them all at once or one at a time? Which ideas will pay off? Most over-committed entrepreneurs lack any feedback system to separate ‘good ideas’ from viable business models.

4. Having more tasks to do than hours in the day. They let themselves get distracted with every ring on their computer telling them another e-mail has come in. Other people’s priorities rule their day, and many of them are not customers. These leaders typically say they are overwhelmed and exhausted.

5. Trading hours for dollars. Few founders have discovered the passive income route in their companies. Often, they think ‘hours for dollars’ is the only method to generate revenue.

Sometimes they stay in the ‘hours for dollars’ trap because they don’t know how to command higher rates in their field and be viewed as an industry expert. Or, they are missing out entirely on a brand new opportunity to grow their business because they are heavily focused on product delivery. They do not have the mindset of an expert who surrounds herself with technicians and specialists. Four steps can help you avoid these strategic planning maladies…

Eliminate hidden roadblocks getting in the way of your growth. Develop a set of ruthlessly honest questions and share with your team. If they are well developed, they will reveal an area of your business that is DRAINING YOU of profits and opportunity. My five focused questions took me months to develop-and they work every time.

* Know your style, natural gifts, and blind spots as an entrepreneurial leader. Invest a few thousand dollars in personality assessments (such as PDP, MBTI and Predictive Index) for new hires and potential top performers. Have you ever measured the impact of one bad hire? Applying this strategy will cost a fraction of that hit to your bottom line.

* Develop a feedback system to ensure your company’s hedgehog honors your financial and personal goals. If you are a private or family owned business, you answer to yourself and your family-not Wall Street. Hire an objective outsider to gather the feedback. Our ‘built in’ human filters block important information if you try doing this alone! Just look at the recent accusations directed at Vice President Dick Cheney by former high-ranking military officials for perpetuating groupthink.

* Create a custom dashboard to communicate, guide and measure growth in your company-and focus more on what is of highest value to your employees and customers. If you are currently using only trailing indicators to lead your business, chances are you have made costly strategic choices in the past. Author and seasoned CEO Gary Sutton shares profitable growth wisdom in his newest book, Corporate Canaries . A man of few (but powerful) words, he says One of the three ways to kill your company is to have fuzzy direction. Even while Fortune and Business Week and all the others were naming Enron ‘Company of the Year,’ nobody could describe what they were doing. If you don’t have two or three forward indicators, your controls are incomplete.

You can Energize Growth today in your company. Don’t even wait to complete these four steps. Begin now by asking: What habits do we need to succeed, and what questions will help us reinforce them?

Clarity and focus can really be exciting. Build some new habits, and your life is guaranteed to look different.

South Park (Season 2) DVD Review

June 29th, 2008 by rhiannsblog3548

Premiering in the late summer of 1997, South Park took American pop culture by storm with its no-holds-barred examination of social and political issues and its lewd yet unique brand of cartoon humor. Created by Trey Parker and Matt Stone, South Park is the lynchpin of cable network Comedy Central’s original programming lineup. Centered around the lives of several kids in the small Colorado town of South Park (a place prone to odd and paranormal occurrences), the series presents itself in the form of crude animated drawings, yet the concept works, playing home to innumerable well-written shows filled with boundless wit, well-timed one-liners, and an endless array of politically-incorrect humor. Love it or hate it, South Park is a truly original animated series with relentlessly off-the-wall plot twists and comic relief. If you love oddball humor, then this is the show for you…

South Park mostly follows the exploits of four elementary school kids - Cartman (who’s overweight and sarcastic), Kyle (who dreams of eliminating his little brother Ike), Stan (who throws up at the sight of a girl he likes), and Kenny (who manages to get killed in every episode). All four attend South Park Elementary School where third grade teacher Mr. Garrison educates them with the use of a hand-puppet named Mr. Hat and cafeteria employee Chef McElroy (Isaac Hayes) dispenses his advice while periodically breaking into 70’s love songs about making love to women. South Park is the setting for numerous oddities such as alien visitors, a monster with a hand of celery and the leg of Patrick Duffy, and Big Gay Al’s Big Gay Boat Ride. South Park also hosts a number famous people from time to time, such as the Devil, Saddam Hussein, the Antichrist, Kathy Lee Gifford, Scott Baio, Tina Yothers, Elton John, and Jesus Christ - who has his own cable access show…

The South Park (Season 2) DVD features a number of hilarious episodes including the season premiere Terrance & Phillip in ‘Not Without My Anus’ in which Stan, Kyle, and Kenny do not appear (with only a short cameo by Cartman). Instead, the entire episode revolves around minor characters Terrance and Phillip (part of an April Fool’s joke since that day was the original airing of this episode). In the episode, Terrance must go to Iraq to rescue his kidnapped daughter while Saddam Hussein plots to invade Canada… Other notable episodes from Season 2 include Cartman’s Mom is Still a Dirty Slut in which it is revealed that Cartman’s father is really his hermaphrodite mother who impregnated another woman, and Merry Christmas Charlie Manson! in which the boys befriend escaped convict Charlie Manson (who learns the true meaning of Christmas) in this spoof of the famous Charlie Brown Christmas special…

The New Years Honey Cake

June 29th, 2008 by rhiannsblog3548

This time of year always marks the beginning of a very busy month for the Jewish community, there are a few major holidays that take part in a relatively short time with only a few days separating one holiday from the other.

The real excitement is usually over the Jewish new year, which is usually celebrated on September, and which is the first major holiday after Passover which takes place in April, so this is one holiday that gets all the attention. The preparation for “rosh hashana” the new year is, as always, filled with food buying and preparation of many traditional dishes, many of whom represent different things to different communities around the world, the new years feast can be very different from one place to the other.

One special feature of this holiday is the traditional honey cake that is eating in the end of the dinner and is served to guests as well as the family members at every occasion in this month, the honey cake is not only healthy and tasty, it is also a wish for a sweet new year that will come and used to welcome the beginning of the year.

The interesting thing about this traditional cake is that there are a lot of different variations of it, it is one of the most popular dishes that people like to personalize and make a change in, in contrary to many other traditional recipes that are never changed, the basic of this cake and the relative easiness of preparation allows many to try and add something and experiment with the flavors, something that creates a lot of different cakes and a multitude of recipes.

The things you will need to take into account when planning to make a honey cake is that you should use high quality products, the fact that it is not a complicated cake does not make it a cheap one, if you use quality products it will be felt when eaten and the compliments will start knocking on your doors, poor quality honey will not produce the same effect probably because it will not stand the heat of the baking process so well and will effect the cakes takes and texture.

Remember that the best time to make and eat this cake is the end of the summer, even if you are not Jewish it is always nice to think that this cake and the preparation needed in making it encompasses in it a wish for a sweet and good new year, a successful and happy beginning of yet another year.

Let me say one more thing, as many bakers around the world recommend, try and bring the feeling of happiness into the making of the cake, although it can not be tested or quantified a happy baker usually makes great cakes, and the means of doing that are as diverse as the cakes themselves, so sing, dance or just think happy thoughts, and may you have a happy new year, all the year.

Sharing the Apple iPod

June 29th, 2008 by rhiannsblog3548

The iPod, while standing as a technological marvel, perhaps will ultimately claim its place in history as a connector of societies and people.Yes, everyone knows and appreciates the fact that the iPod, or one of the other versions of the iPod, such as the iPod Nano can store, list and play hundreds, if not thousands of songs. The iPod’s most powerful ability is the one that brings people together. The Apple iPod will never bring world peace, but it may bring together two strangers. When an iPod user sees another iPod user, a bond is created. Those ubiquitous white ear buds are more than just something that delivers music from the player to the listener. The ear buds act as the symbol and insignia of the iPod revolution. The iPod has something unique that can’t really be translated into other forms of portable technology. The iPod is both personal and shared; everyone has an iPod story, or they accessorize their iPod in a certain manner. And, most important of all, many iPod owners and users are dying to either share the music on their iPod with a fellow iPod user, or is interested in listening to what’s on someone else’s iPod.

There are instances where people ask other iPod users ‘what are you listening to on your iPod?’ The Apple iPod Nano has a common element that isn’t found in a Walk man, Disc man or a Blackberry. It is inconceivable that someone would walk up to a Blackberry user and inquire about the phone list that they have stored. Granted, a phone list is to be more protected than a music play list, but song selection is much more personal than the phone number of your hairstylist.

Seeing someone else with an iPod can sometimes create a sense of comraderie. The Apple iPod is, without question, the world’s most popular portable music player. However, even though it has and enjoys tremendous popularity, not everyone has an iPod. And you can’t really understand the iPod culture until you actually own an iPod.The Apple iPod is truly unique and stands alone in terms of appearance, design and accessories. And once you become a member of the iPod family, you want to meet all of your relatives. And you also want to share, and have music, shared with you.

Will the iPod open the lines of communication around the world and get people talking, listening and sharing? No, it won’t do that, unfortunately. But, what it can do is that it can introduce iPod listener A to iPod listener B and exchange music, ideas, and maybe even an email address or two. Think about it: if you were in a foreign country, and wanted to know what was popular among the youth of said country, the best way to do so would be to listen to the music of the land. And, depending on your demeanor, most people with an Apple iPod Nano would be receptive to sharing their music with you. That doesn’t mean running up to someone like a madman, trying to shove your ear buds into their skull. Rather, simply introduce yourself and your purpose, and you may find someone who is on the same mission as you!

Ned Roberts loves his iPod. Visit www.millennium3000.com http://www.millennium3000.com for great deals on the iPod.

The Basics of Investing

June 28th, 2008 by rhiannsblog3548

Investing can be defined in many different ways. It can be termed as the proactive use of your money to make more money or, to say it another way, it is your money working for you. Another way of looking at it is when you use your savings to buy something and think you will earn a decent amount of income and/or go up in value over time.

The concept behind investing is that you put your money to use in such a way that it is likely to turn into more money. So investing is not only an opportunity to make more money, but away to protect the money that you currently have.

Short-term investing or day trading cannot be classed as investing because it’s virtually impossible to see the very near-term future of a stock, however if you enlighten yourself and then take a long-term perspective, there is an excellent chance that you will earn a great return on your investment. In retrospect, investing will require a more conscious decision.

When you put your money to invest that and it accrues value at a slower rate than the rate of inflation it will worth less and less as time passes. So in other words, you have to be creative and take some risk if you want to make more from your initial investment.

Stock Investing is more than just the receiving the right to receive future cash distributions from any business. When you initially buy a stock, you are buying a piece of a company or business and you become a part owner. For example, a lot of the people that joined Microsoft in the early days became part owners as well as employees of the company and ended up as millionaires because the value of Microsoft shares shot up.

There are different characteristics that set investing in stocks apart from savings. Trading in stocks differs from investing when you consider that trading relies more on the fluctuations of the stock value itself. Furthermore, stock investing risks are not distributed equally across all time-periods in which it is possible to own stocks.

Real Estate investing is another form of investing that can generate wealth. However, most people are lead to believe that real estate investing is only for the wealthy folks. What seems to amaze me it the amount of people who get started in real estate investing, only to fail when the going gets tough. Buying and flipping real estate over time has proven to be a great way to get started in real estate investing. Another way of taking advantage to real estate investing is to use the no money down concept and keep your ethics intact. A lot of people continue to ask if it is possible to get a piece of real estate without any of your own money. There are different ways to invest in real estate with none of your own money. It all depends on the value of the real estate in question when you purchase it. If you can get it at a reasonable discount to actual value, there are specialist lenders that will borrow you all the money up front in exchange for a good return on the money they borrowed you.

Finally, succeeding in investing will require you to anticipate the anticipations of others. The real key to investing is to minimize the outward risk and to maximize the financial reward. Investing could be termed as the science and art of trading off risk against reward.

Wine Storage Options for Serious Wine Collectors

June 28th, 2008 by rhiannsblog3548

Wine asset management, as serious wine collecting and storage has come to be known, is available in a variety of configurations depending on what a wine lover’s needs are. Storage options include vault-like facilities where a customer’s wine has a room all to itself, facilities that catalog and store wines all together in a cave or warehouse, decorative custom racks and cellars for the home and even wine storage lockers at local restaurants.

When deciding on how to store your wine, consider the following:

How long will your wine need to be stored?

There are many reasons to store wine, and the longer you plan to store it, the more important environmental conditions are. Some wine lovers store wine with a long-term investment in mind while others, such as wineries, may just be looking for a temporary space while their own storage facilities are full.

The type of wine you are storing also plays a part in length of storage time since many wines change and become more complex over time. Modestly priced wines generally improve more in the short-term, while finer wines that have come from quality fruit, harvested at the peak of ripeness and sugar levels, and are processed appropriately, will develop more complex flavors, intense aromas and deeper colors over many years assuming they are stored under the proper conditions.

How important is consistent temperature, humidity and lighting?

At a lower temperature wine develops more slowly, which allows it to reach and maintain its peak drink ability. If wine becomes too warm, certain aspects may mature and decline before others have been optimized. A temperature-controlled facility is a must for collectors who will be storing their wine over a long period of time. The industry standard for wine cellaring is 55-57 degrees.

Humidity levels are important as well. High humidity will cause mold and mildew, which can damage a wine’s label and foil. But too little humidity can cause corks to dry out, shrink, break the seal and ultimately spoil the wine. Humidity of between 60-70% is optimal and is the industry standard for cellar storage.

How important is security, privacy and accessibility?

If you are storing valuable wine and want to rest easy, you may want to choose a facility that has individual lockers, state-of-the-art alarm systems at the facility, and on each individual locker, on-site surveillance cameras and even a 24-hour, on-site security guard or residing resident manager. Also, a fire sprinkler system in the building would be reassuring.

Secure wine storage facilities located in earthquake country should also include sturdy shelving that is bolted securely to floors and walls and specifically designed to protect the wine in the event of an earthquake. If a facility also has a back-up generator system, you will have extra assurance that even during a power outage; your wine will be maintained at the proper temperature.

Other Storage Options

For wine collectors who want to keep their collection close to home, the sky’s the limit when it comes to personal storage containers, racks, cooling systems and cellars. If cost is no object and sufficient space is available, there are companies that specialize in building home wine cellars. Of course, this is the most expensive option and should only be considered if one is certain they will not be moving anytime soon. If properly designed and constructed, the home wine cellar can be a source of great enjoyment, but like many home improvements, the cost of construction is unlikely to be recovered if the home needs to be sold and may limit its appeal to future buyers who are not wine collectors.

There are many home refrigeration units on the market for storage of wine, but most of these are of rather limited capacity and unlikely to meet the needs of a serious collector. However, these units can be a good part of a storage solution - allowing a small sampling of the collection to be kept at the home while the bulk of the wine is stored off-site in a secure facility.

A final option is the installation of built-in or free standing wine rack in a room of the home. The problem here is that the wine will not be stored at optimum conditions since most people do not want to maintain their home at 55 degrees. Thus, for valuable wines, this should only be a short term solution for wine ready to be consumed in the near future.

For collectors of valuable wines with long term potential, the best solution is probably a combination of off-site storage in a secure facility with ideal temperature and humidity conditions, with some small amount of temperature-controlled storage in the home for those wines which are ready to be enjoyed at the peak of perfection.

By having a proper wine storage facility at your disposal, it is possible to buy cases of wine when they are first released and store them until they reach their peak. This can save significant cost compared to buying such wines aged to perfection (if they can even be found), and some collectors can sell the wines they have aged under perfect conditions and make a profit to fund further acquisitions of fine wines. Enjoy!

James Ledwith is a real estate developer specializing in self storage. His interest in collecting fine wines led him to recognize a shortage of secure, climate controlled wine storage facilities. So, he decided to research and build a state of the art facility called Marin Wine Vaults in San Rafael, CA which is located close the Napa and Sonoma wine country. This article reflects his research into the art and science of wine storage for serious collectors. James can be reached via his web site at www.MarinWineVaults.com http://www.MarinWineVaults.com .
